DIGITALISATION IN OUR DISTRICT

Fast internet in almost all households, businesses and schools: In the district of Coesfeld, this goal will soon be achieved - also thanks to your active support. With fibre optic coverage of around 85% and high coverage of fast wireless networks such as LTE, LoRaWan and 5G, the conditions are excellent for creating new, digital services that make life easier and better.

To enable us to make the best possible use of this unique opportunity, the eleven cities and municipalities and the district have jointly developed a digitalisation strategy (in German), which we would now like to implement together with you.

With heart and system...

We are shaping the digital transformation

  • together with local people and thus create a high level of acceptance for the changes
  • holistic with different priorities in order to work in a focussed manner and benefit from accumulated experience
  • agile in order to continuously adapt the digitalisation strategy to changing framework conditions and technical developments
  • in inter-municipal cooperation in order to utilise synergies

Wir wollen die Menschen dabei unterstützen, die Chancen der Digitalisierung nutzen zu können und Digitalisierungs-Akteure im Kreis Coesfeld zusammenbringen.“

"We want to support people in taking advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalisation and bring together digitalisation stakeholders in the Coesfeld district."

District Administrator Dr. Christian Schulze Pellengahr

The topics of our digitalisation strategy

Administration

Access the town hall online and use all kinds of administrative services conveniently from home or on the move: With the introduction of a digital service portal, we want to make this possible while reducing processing times and speeding up processes. In addition, a network is being created that will enable local authorities in the district to exchange information quickly and regularly. A real boost for service and efficiency.

Education

Making schools digital doesn't just mean improving IT equipment. That's why we want to teach digital skills from an early age and show the opportunities and dangers of digital platforms. Prevention projects against cyberbullying, the strengthening of digital career and study guidance and the development of qualification programmes in vocational education are also planned.

Economy

We want to make the district attractive for skilled workers, the self-employed and start-ups with mobile working opportunities in networked coworking centres. Companies will have test and experimentation spaces for the development of digital solutions. They can also exchange ideas in themed communities in order to make progress together. The focus is also on employees: together, we support them in expanding their knowledge and skills.

Mobility

Improving your mobility options in our rural region means creating alternatives to your own car. This is to be made possible by combining digitalisation and sharing offers for different modes of transport. In this way, we can protect the climate, environment, land and resources and reduce the time spent travelling. All options should be available via a standardised platform and help to reduce the volume of traffic and avoid unnecessary journeys.

City & village centre

The whole city and every municipality quickly on your screen: The city app saves time-consuming searches and offers service and information - even across district boundaries. From booking and payment options for public transport and restaurants to a survey tool for your ideas on urban development. In this way, we create transparency about offers and bundle everything important for quick access on one platform.

Further approaches

Health, tourism and culture are three further fields of action in the digitalisation strategy that we want to implement together at a later date.
